Thomas served in 68th Illinois Infantry”

Payton, E.R.; Peyton, Frank; & Peyton, James F.

“In the listing of photographs, there is an E.R. Payton - the "a" in Peyton should be an "e".

Full Name - Ernest Russell Peyton - He was owner of Pekin Hardware, a president of the Pekin Hospital Board, and a president of the Park Board.  He was son of the James Franklin Peyton and a brother to the Frank L. Peyton also listed in the photographs.

His father, James Franklin Peyton, was VP of the Pekin Alcohol Manufacturing Companies (which later became American Distilling Co.) in the 1850-1860's and was a brother to my great-great-grandfather Thomas Peyton.”
