TCGHS also has a few reels of miscellaneous newspapers which include a small amount of
the Pekin Tazewell Republican, Pekin Time, Mason City Journal, Fulton Banner, Fulton
Gazette, Mackinaw Gazette, Tazewell County Republican, Pekin Evening Post, Bloomington
Bulletin, Bloomington Democratic News, Lincoln Sentinel, and the Peoria Register.
As of June 2012, we have
microfilm for the Pekin
Daily Times from October 3, 1914 through 1936.
Pekin
Public Library has the Times on microfilm
from 1914 through current issues. If you live
out of town, you can use our research services to
have us look up an obituary for you
at the library.
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential
Library and Museum in Springfield is another excellent source for Tazewell County
newspapers on microfilm. As the mandated newspaper repository in Illinois, the
Library holds titles from all 102 counties. The Library's 4,900 newspaper titles are
preserved on nearly 73,000 microfilm reels.
And, the Illinois
Newspaper Project (INP) is currently traveling the state cataloging
newspaper collections. They cataloged our collection in October 2001.
