| "Old County Courthouse. The above building, erected in 1849 [in Pekin], was torn down in 1914, to be replaced by the present beautiful seat of justice. It cost over $8,000.00. Within it were heard the voices of such notable men as A. Lincoln, S.A. Douglas, Edw. D. Baker, David Davis, Robt. G. Ingersoll, and others. " |
